These pirates, largely Japanese but with a good mixture of Chinese and others, were a thorn in the side of the Japanese (who were not averse to using their services when they felt it appropriate), Chinese, Koreans and in fact just about everyone they come up against. Their coastal raids could be very large and on occasion amounted to small invasion forces.
The sets comprise assorted figures armed with a variety of weapons (some separate) who are dressed in various clothes and looted armour including, even the odd piece of European origin.
Many in set WM1 and WM2 can also double as general ruffians, bandits and ronin, whilst some in WM2 and most figures in WM3 could easily represent crews for samurai ships, stripped down to the more essential parts of their armour.
